What is EPDM O-rings?

EPDM o-rings also called ethylene propylene o-rings, are a family of synthetic elastomers with lower cost steam and chemical resistance, particularly for applications involving solvents, acids and other mild chemicals. We have large stocks of EPDM o-rings and made on demand custom manufacturing often without tooling fees, so the EPDM o-rings you need are always available. No matter you will use it for water systems, pharmaceutical, braking systems, medical, food or dairy use, we can deliver your EPDM o-rings fast and efficiently.

Why We Use EPDM O-ring and Its Advantages?

EPDM o-rings have a great acceptance in the sealing world because of its excellent resistance to heat, water and steam, alkali, mild acidic and oxygenated solvents, ozone, and sunlight (UV). These EPDM o-rings also withstand the effect of brake fluids and Skydrol and other phosphate ester-based hydraulic fluids. EPDM o-rings are not recommended for gasoline, petroleum oil and grease, and hydrocarbon environments.

Grade of EPDM

EPDM Sulphur cured: it is inexpensive material for normal use, maximum temperature of +120°C (+250°F).
EPDM Peroxide cured: it is for hot water, steam, alcohols, ketones, engine coolants, organic and inorganic acids and bases. Not resistant to mineral oils, greases and fuels. For maximum temperatures of +150°C (+300°F).

Mechnical Properties

EPDM o-rings have good Compression Set Resistance, good Heat Stability, fair Shorter Term Resilience, good Permeation Resistance and they have excellent Electrical Insulator.

Typical Applications

EPDM o-rings are most commonly used in applications involving solvents, acids, brake fluids, and other aggressive chemicals. They are also known for their resistance to high temperature steam. EPDM has very poor compatibility with most mineral and petroleum based oils and is seldom used in those applications.
